WHAT IS THE OAKS?
The Oaks Adventist Christian School opened in the fall of 2003. The school opened with a vision to serve Houston families who were looking for alternatives to public school, and wanting their children to learn in a spiritual environment. As a growing school we are excited about the opportunities which God has given us, and believe that this is His school with a plan greater than ourselves.
In 2008 we expanded our program to include a three year old classroom. The Tiny Tigers program is just one area in which we have plans to expand over the next few years. This program accepts students for full, part and extended day programs. It is our vision to be able to provide education and care for the entire family in one place, with quality, experienced, Christian faculty.
The elementary program at The Oaks is run by experienced, energetic faculty. Our student focused approach allows for accelerated students to join other classes, as well as make modifications as needed for others. The classrooms are Christ-focused with a balance of center based and teacher directed education.
Our High School program is a developing and full of energy. The first graduating class was in 2007. The program is on a development plan to be accredited as a full senior academy within the next 3 years. As the program grows our curriculum will include all criteria of the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists as well as meeting all Texas state requirements for college prep diplomas. We will be adding more music, fine arts, gymnastics, and technical classes as enrollment and faculty allow.
National test scores have been steadily increasing. We are implementing required test readiness programs for the P-SAT, ACT and SAT, as well as taking part in ITBS and CogAT testing annually for grades 3 through 11. Results received from CogAT indicate that our students are testing at or above the national averages.
